At Midas we also take a great interest in the arts and one artist in particular; Andrew Vacari, said to be Britain’s richest living painter.

Labelled “King of Painters, Painter of Kings”, Andrew is court artist to the richest and most powerful crowned head of the Middle East. Having been the youngest ever student at the prestigious Slade School in London and having been taught by the world famous Francis Bacon, he became the official painter of Saudi Arabia in 1974 when he was commissioned by the Saudi Government to produce sixty works entitled “The Triumph of the Bedouin”. Today the paintings are on permanent display hanging on the walls of the King Faisal Conference Centre in Riyadh and tell the story of Saudi Arabia from its origins to its recent emergence as a modern nation and culminate in a portrait sequence of the ruling Saudi dynasty. The work took 4 years to complete and as a result is now regarded as one of the most exceptional ventures in the history of modern painting. It is not only in the Middle East that Vacari is famous, in China adoring crowds acclaim him the “Great Master” he was invited by the Ministry of Culture of the people’s Republic of China to be the forth occidental artist to exhibit in Beijing, he was also the first Western Artist to be honoured by being officially invited to paint the great Chinese philosopher Confucius.

Andrew Vicari currently lives and works at his studio outside Nice, France. Inspired by the unique light and beauty of surrounding Nice, he produced a series of pictures described as “Vigonades”, a word he made up to describe “ a combination of fluid movements, the sensuality of sunlight and love beached by that nocturnal pallor which you find along the Cote d’ Azur between Nice and Monaco and nowhere else.

Vicari’s fortune was valued at £92 million in 2006 by the Sunday Times Rich List and if this is an area you wish to explore from an investment point of view then please call us in confidence and we will help and guide you along what is likely to be an extremely interesting and potentially highly rewarding investment road.  Typically Vicari’s paintings start at circa £35,000.
